Greetings

Welcome to my little corner of the inter-webs! I just wanted to take this space to warn you that my posts will rarely be up to date. Due to the spontaneity of natural disasters and the unpredictability of when AmeriCorps' services will be requested I will be digitizing my journal entries whenever we return to St. Louis. Oh, and most of the pictures you see here were taken by myself. If ever I do use someone else's material I make a point to give them due credit though! That said, come, leave comments and be merry! I hope you enjoy your stay!

Taum Sauk - 1/31

We did a mock indirect attack for the last bit of the fire line we had to put in.  Overall we did pretty well, seeing how this was the first week most of us had ever done fire line, but there was definitely room for improvement.  I’d say our biggest flaw was communication.  With the blowers and a chainsaw going it was hard to get anyone’s attention.  We were also pretty focused on our individual roles whereas on a real fire we would need to jump in and alter our roles as is needed to keep things running quickly and efficiently.  Still, compared to what we accomplished when we just started this week, I’d say we made a lot of progress!  Until the next adventure friends!

Pics taken by me.
