Greetings

Welcome to my little corner of the inter-webs! I just wanted to take this space to warn you that my posts will rarely be up to date. Due to the spontaneity of natural disasters and the unpredictability of when AmeriCorps' services will be requested I will be digitizing my journal entries whenever we return to St. Louis. Oh, and most of the pictures you see here were taken by myself. If ever I do use someone else's material I make a point to give them due credit though! That said, come, leave comments and be merry! I hope you enjoy your stay!

Taum Sauk - 1/29

A feeling of belonging, *cue Disney Hercules music* it’s what I want 99% of the time.  AmeriCorps gives me that.  The program kicks my butt, but it gets me.  During our orientation at HQ I knew I was in for something special when I saw Firefly characters on our lockers.  For those of ya that are curious, I had Shepard Book.  Then there are the cool people you get to work with.  Last week when we were on our 11 day I forgot my lunch on one occasion and everyone on my team contributed something from their own lunches to help me make a meal.  Everyone looks out for each other here; we are like a family and if there is ever a place we belong in this world, it is with our families.

My family away from home hiked some of the Ozark trails today.  Our team leader of the week, Will, was called away to help another group so Liz took charge.  We traversed and cleared a good 3 miles of very scenic trail before returning to our lodging.  It was a good day—slower paced and dangerously close to being relaxing.  Even so I am incredibly weary.  I hope you are all doing well!  Good night!
