I left my camera at our housing today. Pity really because the snow was falling so
beautifully. Our contact wasn’t
comfortable having us fell anything in the flurry so we were assigned the
tetanus threatening task of dismantling a barb wire fence. We did well.
There was a complication with the ground being frozen, which made part
of the fence inaccessible. To overcome
this obstacle, I suggested that we use the fence posts we had already excavated
as levers. With my wrist flaring up I
couldn’t get the tougher ones, but Dalton was a beast and tore up what I could
not. It was a great and very productive
day.
I did receive a bit of bad news: my request for the up and coming
Sunday off was denied. There was
confusion all around on that matter it seems.
Anyways, it wasn’t like the Fellows were trying to stick me, the
contract calls for so many bodies and a replacement was impossible due to
everyone being out on projects. As a
compromise they are allowing me to skip the pack in on Friday and the pack out
on Sunday so I can spend a little more time with my fiancée over Valentine’s
Day weekend. My new team, team blue, was
more than receptive to this idea. So,
while the news was a little sad, it warms my heart that everyone is pitching in
to help me salvage what I can.
That about covers
our day excluding our new German friend and some crazy bantering. Do any of you have plans for Valentine’s
Day? …or did you, rather, as you
probably won’t see this until after.
Whatever you did I hope it was fun!
Good night all!
