Greetings

Welcome to my little corner of the inter-webs! I just wanted to take this space to warn you that my posts will rarely be up to date. Due to the spontaneity of natural disasters and the unpredictability of when AmeriCorps' services will be requested I will be digitizing my journal entries whenever we return to St. Louis. Oh, and most of the pictures you see here were taken by myself. If ever I do use someone else's material I make a point to give them due credit though! That said, come, leave comments and be merry! I hope you enjoy your stay!

ACSTL HQ - 2/5

Hey all!  So our contacts are a little worried about us working out in these weather conditions.  If you're living in the Midwest you most likely know what I am talking about, but for those of you that don't we've been facing subzero temperatures (with windchill), a decent amount of snow, and a fine layer of crystalline ice.  As we are focusing on nature conservation at the moment, this weather severely limits what we can do safely.  While we are all about nature and its preservation we put our own well-being first and, as such, our schedules are a bit... chaotic this week.  I am part of team silver until this up and coming Monday when I will be driving out to Eminence, Missouri, to pick up some folks and head over to Peck Ranch to complete a rather unique 10 day.  In the interim, I will be helping out in the Warming Shelter.  Either my fellow ERT members read my blog or the Fellows knew I was looking to serve in one of the permanent slots for the Shelter.  Either way, this is a blessing as I feel these next couple of days will be more mentally challenging than physical, which means my wrist will be given a little extra time to mend.

Not exactly service work, but we did go to a Blues game last night.  The groups that are still in St. Louis got half of Monday off and all of Tuesday in preparation for our 10 days, so we spent it exploring what the city had to offer.  I was shocked that I got a ticket for the game for under $20.00 because the Blues are one of the better teams this year.  Anyways, that was a ton of fun.  We ended up losing in a shootout... which is all too familiar for me as a Red Wings fan.

This brings me to a regrettable discovery.  I believe I have become a jinx.  Up until this hockey game I had a perfect streak going-- every game I went to my team won.  This time though, no dice.  Same thing kind of happened to my Spartans in basketball.  The last two times I was able to actually watch them, they lost.  I need to find a way to bring back my good fortune!  I have no idea where to start though.  Any suggestions?

Well that's all for now!  Later all!
