Greetings

Welcome to my little corner of the inter-webs! I just wanted to take this space to warn you that my posts will rarely be up to date. Due to the spontaneity of natural disasters and the unpredictability of when AmeriCorps' services will be requested I will be digitizing my journal entries whenever we return to St. Louis. Oh, and most of the pictures you see here were taken by myself. If ever I do use someone else's material I make a point to give them due credit though! That said, come, leave comments and be merry! I hope you enjoy your stay!

Taum Sauk - 1/28

Pain!  Everything hurts and by everything I mean my knees, shoulders, wrists, neck, and arms… Everything!  I discovered that my left wrist never fully recovered from the 11 day and my right is throbbing due to my nursing of the left.  As for the rest of me, I over exerted myself swamping in some very rough terrain.  Sadly we had very little down time out in the field so I didn’t get to document all of the cool sights with my camera.  Hopefully I can snag some from fellow ERT members who have served in the area before.  Anyways, due to some miscommunication Danielle and I missed lunch and were hitting the fire line hard until about 2:30pm.  We took maybe 10 minutes to eat and then we were right back in it.

As displeased as my body might be with today’s events, its sacrifice helped spearhead our progress.  We did almost 3 days’ worth of work in a single day.  Given another full day we could probably knock out the remaining fire line, which is good because it sounds like another one of our teams may need an extra hand.

Let’s see, other things to mention...  We have nice housing again.  I think I’m going to take advantage of the hot water and take a nice long shower to ease the tension racking my body.  Night friends.

My pictures.
