Back to the Tower of Hercules we go! The game plan hasn’t changed since our last
visit: we need to remove the old stairs and put in the new. I did a little bit of everything from cutting
new planks to removing the nuts and bolts from the old ones. Will Burks got me all nervous by mentioning
how fragile the old stairs are, which you need to stand on if you are in the
front of the group removing the metal bits.
With the wind there were a couple of iffy moments, but a little mind
over matter settled me down. Despite a
couple of setbacks 4 flights of stairs are now done and the 5th is practically
prepped to being putting in new boards.
At the start of
the day there were some cub scouts in the area.
They were wearing tan uniforms so I imagine they were Webelos… cause I
can’t remember being that tiny when I was in the Scouts. Being up in a tower may have played with my
perception of size a bit. Anyhow, was
fun to see a Troop hanging out; a similar group is a large reason I am here
serving today. Huge shout out to Troop
325 back in Michigan! Hope those
following in my footsteps are just as hard-working and mischievous. Good night all!
